Rooting Out Racism:
Anti-racism for Service & Advocacy Orgs
Rooting out Racism is an immersive training anchored in the transformative power of people who work in social service and advocacy organizations.
Our workshop is designed to help guide social service practitioners, advocates, volunteers, board members, and organizers through:
Analyzing how structural racism plays out in our programs and campaigns, organizational structures, cultures, and overarching theories of change
Creating collective visions for how our organizations could practice racial justice as we transform into the future
Engaging in principles such as reparations, healing, imagination, and movement
Crafting strategy based on community organizing lessons for short and long-term organizational change
Grounding themselves in history, arts, culture, common language, and embodied experiences that support the reimagining and reshaping of non-profits in the DC area

S2J offers our public Rooting Out Racism (ROR) training at least twice a year. We also design them specifically for organizations, schools, coalitions, communities, and groups. Check out this 3-min video of Kyla and Brittney offering a sneak peek into the ROR experience!
What People Are Saying about Rooting Out Racism
“(I learned that) change and action is necessary…
and it will be messy, and we can mess up and work on repair and healing at the same time.”
— 2020 Training Participant
“This training is exactly what our organization needed…
It was focused on personal relationships, behaviors, and systems in a way that felt huge but not too overwhelming. Everything was so well planned and thoughtful.”
